Scorpa S.A. is insolvent and files for bankruptcy (liquidation judiciaire) with the commercial court in Nîmes.

Marc Teissier buys back "his" old brand from the insolvency estate. He does this officially through his holding company or via Sherco.

Scorpa presents the first result of its collaboration with Yamaha: the SY 250 Racing. It uses a two-stroke engine specially developed by Yamaha for Scorpa (based on the proven technology of the Yamaha TYZ 250).

Strategic differences arise between the founders of Scorpa. Marc Teissier wants to expand and sees great advantages in manufacturing in Spain (Barcelona). Marc Teissier leaves Scorpa and sells his shares to his partner Joël Domergue and other investors. With the money and his vision, Teissier founds the Sherco brand.

Scorpa signed an agreement with Yamaha to use their engines exclusively for trial purposes.

Scorpa is starting series production of its first model, the Scorpa Works 294. The model is powered by a single-cylinder two-stroke engine from Austrian manufacturer Rotax.

Marc Teissier and Joël Domergue found Scorpa in Alès (southern France).
