Bulto founds Bultaco. The brand was born out of conflict: Francisco "Paco" Bultó was a co-founder of Montesa. When Montesa's board decided to close the racing department in 1958 for financial reasons, Bultó resigned in protest. Just a few days later, former Montesa employees met with Bultó at his farmhouse. Within a few months, they founded Bultaco (a portmanteau of his surname Bultó and his nickname Paco). The logo, the famous "thumbs up" sign, became the trademark—a symbol of optimism and success.
